Ladakh: The Classic Ride

Day 01: Arrival in Leh

Your Ladakh journey begins even before landing, as your flight glides over endless snow-covered peaks. The descent into Leh is magical—barren yet beautiful mountains stretching endlessly on both sides. As you step out of the airport, the cool, thin air welcomes you to the “Land of High Passes.”

Our representative will meet you at the airport and transfer you to your hotel. Check in, settle down, and rest—today is for acclimatization. At 3,524m (11,562 ft), it’s vital to let your body adjust. Sip a steaming cup of butter tea, relax, and take it slow.

Follow a few golden rules: drink plenty of water, avoid alcohol, and move gently. Feeling light-headed is normal—stay calm and rest as your body adapts to the altitude. Take a short evening stroll around the hotel before returning for dinner. Drift into sleep with excitement for the adventures that await tomorrow.

Day 02: Exploring Leh

You wake to crisp mountain air and golden dawn spilling over the peaks—your first true taste of Ladakh’s spirit. After breakfast, set out to explore Leh’s cultural heart. Begin at Thiksey Monastery, a majestic 12-story complex rising from a hilltop. Fluttering prayer flags lead you upward, where the chants of monks fill the air and the serene Maitreya Buddha gazes timelessly over the valley.

Next, visit Shey Palace, once the summer retreat of Ladakhi kings. Its quiet ruins and sweeping views capture the grandeur and solitude that define the region. By midday, stop at the Druk Padma Karpo School—the “3 Idiots School”—a lighthearted stop showing how Ladakh blends tradition with modern life.

End your day at Shanti Stupa, glowing golden in the setting sun. From its height, watch Leh light up and the Indus Valley fade into twilight—a sight that lingers long after you leave. Back in town, wander through the market or relax at your hotel. Don’t miss a bowl of thukpa, Ladakh’s comforting noodle soup, before ending your day with dinner and rest.

Day 03: Leh to Nubra Valley via Khardung La

Today, the real adventure begins. After breakfast, head to Khardung La Pass (5,359m / 17,582 ft), the world’s one of the highest motorable passes. The road winds sharply upward, each turn revealing wilder vistas. At the summit, prayer flags dance in the wind and the thin air makes every breath feel earned. Pause to take in the panoramic view—you’re truly on top of the world.

Descending from Khardung La, the landscape shifts as you enter the enchanting Nubra Valley, where barren mountains give way to stretches of cold desert. By afternoon, reach Hunder, home to surreal sand dunes and the rare double-humped Bactrian camels. A short camel ride here feels dreamlike—snow peaks ahead, sand beneath your feet.

Fun fact: Nubra was once an ancient sea, and marine fossils can still be found—a whisper from Ladakh’s distant past. Next, visit Diskit Monastery, the oldest and largest in Nubra. The 106-foot Maitreya Buddha towers peacefully above the valley, glowing gold under the setting sun—a truly magical sight.

By evening, check into your accommodation.

  • Accomodation: Deluxe Tent / Cottage
  • Meals: Breakfast and Dinner
Day 04: Nubra to Pangong via Shyok

You wake to Nubra’s crisp silence, broken only by the river’s gentle flow. After breakfast, begin your journey to Pangong Lake, one of Ladakh’s most breathtaking sights.

The route follows the Shyok River, a rugged, less-traveled path that winds through gorges, crosses streams, and reveals wild, untouched landscapes. Each turn opens to new vistas—narrow valleys unfolding into vast plains, cliffs rising high, and the shimmering Shyok guiding your way.

After hours on the road, the first glimpse of Pangong Tso steals your breath. Stretching 134 km, the lake shifts from turquoise to deep blue as sunlight dances across its surface—beauty beyond words. Spend the evening by the lakeshore, wandering the pebbled edge as the setting sun paints the water in gold and crimson. Later, under a sky ablaze with stars, Pangong feels almost otherworldly.

Check into your accommodation and fall asleep to the whisper of the mountain breeze.

  • Accomodation: Deluxe Tent / Cottage
  • Meals: Breakfast and Dinner
Day 05: Pangong to Leh via Chang La

Morning at Pangong Lake is pure magic—the air crisp, the lake still, and as the sun rises, its waters shift from deep blue to radiant turquoise. It’s hard to leave, but the road ahead calls—one of the most thrilling stretches of your Ladakh journey.

The trail winds along mountainsides, over rushing streams and rugged turns that quicken your pulse. Soon you begin the ascent to Chang La Pass (5,360m / 17,590 ft), among the world’s highest motorable passes. The climb is steep, snow lingers even in summer, and every breath feels earned.

As you rise, the world grows surreal—cliffs on one side, plunging valleys on the other, yaks grazing in lonely meadows, frozen streams glinting in the sun. At the top, the wind howls, prayer flags snap, and the snow sparkles under a piercing sky. Standing there feels like triumph—pure, exhilarating altitude.

By evening, you reach your accommodation. Under Ladakh’s endless stars, you’ll relive the rush of conquering one of the Himalayas’ mightiest passes.

  • Accomodation: Deluxe Hotel
  • Meals: Breakfast and Dinner
Day 06 : Departure from Leh

The morning in Leh feels different today — quieter, more reflective. The adventure through Ladakh’s high passes, vast valleys, and serene lakes has come to an end, but the memories linger as vividly as the mountains themselves.

After breakfast, it’s time to bid farewell. Our team representative will accompany you to the airport for your onward journey. As you leave, the sights, sounds, and bonds forged on this ride stay with you — the laughter shared around dinner tables, the thrill of conquering mountain roads, and the calm of starry Ladakh nights.

Though the journey ends here, Ladakh has a way of calling you back. Until then, you carry a piece of the Himalayas with you — and the promise of roads yet to be ridden.

What is covered in a Leh Ladakh itinerary for 6 days?

This itinerary covers Leh, Nubra Valley, Pangong Lake, and high passes like Khardung La and Chang La – ensuring you experience the best of Ladakh within a week.

Can I customize the 6-day motorcycle tour?

Yes, the route, stay options, and riding hours can be adjusted based on your preferences and comfort level.

Is 6 days enough for a Ladakh motorcycle trip?

Yes, six days is ideal for those with limited time. It ensures proper acclimatization in Leh and covers all major highlights. For remote routes like Hanle or Umling La, a longer itinerary is recommended.

Do I need permits for this trip?

Yes. Inner Line Permits are required for Nubra Valley and Pangong Lake. These are included in the tour package.

What happens if I feel altitude sickness?

Since Ladakh is a high-altitude destination, some may experience mild symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) such as headache, nausea, dizziness, or shortness of breath. To minimize risks, the itinerary is designed with:

  • Acclimatization in Leh (Day 1): The tour starts with a full day of rest in Leh to allow your body to adapt before riding to higher regions.
  • Gradual Ascent: The route is planned to avoid sudden altitude jumps wherever possible.
  • Support & Safety Measures: A backup vehicle carries oxygen cylinders, first-aid kits, and essential medication. The road captain and support team are trained to assist in case of AMS.
  • Immediate Care: If symptoms appear, you’ll be given oxygen support and monitored. In most cases, rest and hydration help. If the situation worsens, evacuation to lower altitude or hospital care in Leh will be arranged.
