A ten-minute morning check prevents most breakdowns. On tour our mechanic does this for you.
Key Riding Guidance & Highlights
On a Dream Riders tour this is our mechanic's job — but knowing what a proper morning check looks like makes you a sharper rider anywhere. Ten minutes each morning prevents most of the breakdowns that end riders' days.
The daily check
- Chain: correct slack and freshly lubed — especially after a water crossing, which strips the lubricant
- Oil: level checked on flat ground when the engine is cool
- Tyres: pressure set for the day's terrain (a touch lower for loose surfaces), plus a look for cuts or embedded stones
- Brakes: lever feel and pad wear
- Lights and bolts: all working, and a quick look for anything that vibrated loose yesterday
Our tip: Watch our mechanic do this on day one. It’s a genuinely useful skill for the rest of your riding life — and it builds real confidence in the machine under you, especially during a motorcycle adventure tours.
