Bhutan Riders Story

Hi, I am Vinod from Singapore. And I am Rita, we are together. I am Girish, we are from Kerala.

And I am Vinita, my husband is Girish. So I just want to start by, you know, why did you guys choose Bhutan as your first motorcycle trip? Actually this is my second motorcycle trip.

But we always, both me and my wife, we wanted to do Bhutan for a long time. We were actually looking at a van, I mean normal tour of Bhutan. But somehow, something popped up about a motorcycle trip.

And then I thought why not, and Girish is our family friend. And he does a lot of biking. I checked with him and then all of us, we decided why not.

So that's how it became Bhutan. And so, like four of you guys started the Tiger's Nest. Or you know, only two of you guys finished it.

So, you know, I know you guys have been to other trucks and all. But how do you guys compare this to, the Tiger's Nest to the others you guys did? It's not probably comparable. Because most other tracks can be multi-day tracks.

So this is actually a single day track. And it's actually quite normal, but some sections are quite steep. So I think two of them decided to wait at the halfway mark.

So that the rest of the team doesn't have to wait. So that's the only reason why they decided to stop at the halfway mark. Otherwise, we could all have done it.

I think it's also because we started a bit late. Because we were the last team to start the hike also. So we already were late, like 10, 10.30 we started the hike.

So we knew that we were late. And the restaurant at the halfway mark was closed by 3 or 4. So we knew that if we are going to participate in the track, the rest of the people may miss their lunch or something like that. We were quite worried for them.

So that is the reason the two of us, we were the slowest in the group. So we thought we would just wait for them at the halfway mark. So would you say that if someone is doing that track, they would have to start pretty early? Yes, pretty early.

I think the best thing is for them to start as early as possible. Because then it gives them time to stop and see the beauty of the nature, the track as well. The hike as well as we go.

Otherwise, we are just rushing for time. We are just trying to keep up with the rest and keep up the pace, which is quite tiring. And we don't enjoy the hike as well.

Because I remember that me and Girish, though we stayed back, when we decided to stay back, then we were very slow. And we took photographs, we looked at the scenery, we were enjoying the panorama, everything. And we were walking very slow.

And that was really enjoyable for us. So we were telling, you know, the rest of them are just, you know, rushing to, you know, they are not enjoying the beauty of the trail. And, you know, if you guys would give a tip for the future Bhutan riders, what would that be? What I suggest is that a little bit more interactions with the local people.

It can be, it has to be included in the local shows, local vegetable shops and local people. That can be added along with the next trek or something like that. Otherwise, it was fantastic and it was really, really enjoyable.

And even the off-roading was also very, very nice. Okay, that's it guys. Yeah, I think the Bhutanese people are very nice.

Very handsome people. Especially the ladies. Very polite, very friendly people.

Very engaging. So, you feel very welcome to be exploring Bhutan. We felt very home.

Yeah, very much at home. Very much at home. And I think like some of the places that we went to, they have this kind of homestay experiences where we can go and live or experience a lunch in the local style.

When we went to places like Meghalaya and all that, we could go to the places where they have authentic food, where we sit with them in the family kind of atmosphere. Some other places as well, they have that facility. So, if something like that could be arranged, where we can actually be with the locals and experience their food or experience their culture, that would have been really a plus point.

Okay, yeah. That's it, guys. Thank you for talking with us.
