Riding Route Details

Day1 : ARRIVE AT MANALI

Welcome to Manali. As it is said, the party begins at Manali, we gather there with eyes full of dreams. Our team will assist you and your bike to reach the hotel. You will see our faces again in the evening for induction programme where we prepare you for the 'not for everyone' trip with a healthy discussion on roadmap and pitfalls. You got to make-up mind for little mishaps – mechanical, physical, & mental breakdowns, skidding, falling down and so on. After feeding our minds, we will feed our tummy at the hotel & go to bed.

Day2 : MANALI – CHANDRA TAL

Post breakfast, we set off on a biking journey to the epic Rohtang Pass, which also leads us to mystic land of Ladakh, Lahaul and Spiti. The trip has begun a chapter, yet, you utter the words 'I love the mountains and hate them' at the same time as we ride on the Rohtang pass. While riding from Chatru to Batal, the legend lives inverse of its name ‘Chota Dhara’; you get a tough time crossing it. ‘This is where I die’ thought pops out crossing not so 'Chota Dhara'. Later, We take the Tal road via Kunzum pass, the road seems soothing to eyes and comforting to the back after the treacherous ride. The rough road is not everyone's first choice, full of boulders and water crossing; still, you wish the road never to end. At last, we reach the Colour Changing Lake, which sits in the lap of The Himalayas (14000ft). Sit at the bank and witness an ultimate time lapse of The Moon Lake.

Day3 : CHANDRA TAL – KAZA

After a belly full of breakfast, we take 8 Km long 'road of the stones & water', accompanied by meadows. You ride on the Manali road until Kunzum Pass. Later when the sun sits right on the head, we direct our handlebar towards Kaza. Your eyes and soul enjoy the most scenic drive of entire Spiti Valley between Chandratal and Kaza at a bit easy pace, Spiti river flowing on the left, later jumping to your right. As we reach Kaza, we gear up for the fairy tales in Kaza You get to explore local avenues in the evening - Kaza Monastery, Kye Monastery and Kibber Monastery. Among these, Kibber Monastery, established in the 11th century, has the largest concerning numbers. On the other hand, Kye Monastery offers the breathtaking view of Spiti valley from the aloft rock. We will visit them all & pray well being on the rough roads ahead in the journey. Your tired shoulders push you to the bed soon after you had your supper.

Day4 : KAZA–LANGZA–HIKKIM–KOMIC–KAZA

Today visit the road less travel or offbeat places near Kaza. Drive. The city itself is bliss separated into old and new Kaza by Kaza Nullah. Today we are out to visit some of the less explored locations high on the east side of Spiti Valley. You are very versed with atrocities of the road so no need mentioning them again. The Chau Chau Kang Nilda seems to be close enough to touch at Langza & do not forget to collect sea fossils. Leaving Langza, we reach yet another high altitude village Hikkim, loaded with many 'highest in the world' awards. You can see ruins of the Tangyut Monastery destroyed in 1975 earthquake. Finally, we head to the highest motorable village Komic before heading back to our nest in Kaza.

Day5 : KAZA–TABOO

Today after breakfast, we travel our next destination- Taboo. When we start today, you wish to ride slowly to devour the scenery blue Spiti and Snow mountains. Anyway riding slow not an option, you are duly forced by black ice and landslides. We take a detour to Dhankar to witness 1200 years old monastery sitting on a cliff, looking at the confluence of Spiti and Pin river. We head back to Kaza road looking at the mud houses. I know you are an extreme rider & you control your bike like your leg. But, thin black ice can send you a place where there is no turning back.
We reach the freezing land of Tabo in the evening.

Day6 : TABOO – KALPA

Today we have the toughest ride on a long route. The road conditions may vary a lot as we move further it can be worst at times. But as we know the Himachal has lots in its nature to surprise us with the unforgettable beauty. We’ll see the mountains change from green to craggy brown it makes up for it all. At times it will be gentler then rocky. We also pass through the Nako village; this sleepy place has a charming lake and a monastery as well.

Day7 : KALPA - CHITKUL

Today, the road captain and the engines will take us to the last Indian village. The road leading to such exotic destination is as tricky as it picturised on Discovery Channel as the deadliest roads in the world. At times, you will feel as if the sky is falling as you ride on the edge of the mountain covered by the natural roof. You have to be there to experience the mountain roof en route. It is indefinable by words. Beyond this scariest road, finally, the rural roads will lead you to the valley surrounded by the Himalayas. Take a nice nap under the stars after dinner.

Day8 : CHITKUL – SHIMLA

Today we head for Shimla, leaving the heavenly and peaceful place Kalpa. The drive from Kalpa to Shimla is 8 hrs, the roads are relatively in a good condition but being the hilly area we need to be careful with the blind twist and turns in the region. Finally enjoying the ride in the lap of nature we reach Shimla. Shimla is very popular and famous destination in Himachal, well known for honeymoon lovers. Like Kalpa, Shimla is also known for its apples. Reach hotel settle down for leisure. Overnight Shimla in Hotel.

Day9 : SHIMLA to DELHI

Last but not the least, after breakfast, we finally ride for Delhi our last destination. We have to start early to reach before night. The road allows you to rev hard, riding along the speeding trucks in the highway till Chandigarh. Rev your heart out. Whether it’s a ride or a journey it never ends one has to keep moving on. We will be leaving Himachal back as we would drive further, but the memories will fresh and live forever. We reach Delhi check in the hotel.

Day10 : DELHI – DESTINATION

After breakfast, we bid farewell to our fellow riders, sharing our unforgettable memories together. You joined us as an unknown, turning a team, sharing rider's bond.
It marks the end of the trip. See you soon on the next ride.

Dream Spiti Himachal - Ex Delhi

The bike safari along the ancient Trans – Himalayan trade to obscure village and Monasteries is an exciting new adventure holiday that packs so much into two weeks. Start your journey from Manali via Chandratal, Losar &Kalpato a beautiful Sangla valley in the region known as Kinnaur. There is a startling change in the landscape as you enter the district of Spiti Valley. The people of Spiti valley have close affinities with Zanskar and Ladakh who are dedicated to the pre-Buddhist Bon religion. Driving out of the Spiti valley enter into Ladakh region.

As for the Spiti Valley, the name "Spiti" means "The Middle Land", i.e. the land between Tibet and India, though it could also be called "the Land in the Middle of Nowhere", a beautiful but harsh and unforgiving land. The same could be said of local roads twisting away between steep drops and barren canyons:Awesome gate with snakes and cryptic symbols leads to the monastery.

India's most dangerous road is arguably the 137 km stretch from Kaza to Gramphoo (Lahual and Spiti), though it can hardly be called a "road" (80% of the route has no pavement). You will have to forge streams, perhaps even small rivers, negotiate melting glaciers and drive over piles of sand, rocks and snow. Most of the road is above 11000 feet.

It says “ Take a journey ,soar like an eagle, there are so many roads to explore ,so little time” .Join this Adventurous Ride to the Spiti Valley with Challenging Roads, Untouched by the modern world and unpolluted mountains of Himalayas with The Dream Riders Group.

From This morning our beautiful ride starts for Spiti.A good rider has the balance, judgement and timing. So without wasting our time, we‘ll pack our stuff meet at the breakfast. We start our first way to Shimla. Basically Shimla is the hill Station in the Himachal Pradesh in the North, it’s also known as the destination for honeymoon. Delhi to Shimla is 8 hrs ride, roads are good but as we move further after Chandigarh roads get quiet narrow single lane being the hilly area ,reach Shimla. Overnight at Shimla.

Day3 : SHIMLA – KALPA

Post breakfast we start our ride for Kalpa. This ride will take 8 Hrs from Shimla; the roads are good without any hazards. Kalpa is one of those many beautiful places in Himachal Pradesh. This small town, Kalpa, is very close (just 5-6 kms away) to the district headquarter ReckongPeo, also known as Kinnaur. The entire valley of Satluj River in ReckongPeo district is regarded as Kinnaur Valley. Kalpa is famous for its apple orchards, peaceful environment and scenic beauty spread all around in the area. Kinnaur always remains a center of attraction for me because of its fairytales and stories of Kinnauri People.ReckongPeo is situated about 230 kms from Shimla on National Highway-22 going via Rampur, ReckongPeo towards Kaza. Kalpa is 5-6 kms ahead on a hilly slope, above the small city of ReckongPeo. The paved tarmac of the National Highway (NH-22) is in very good condition, except some bad patches due to the landslides that may occur anytime. Along the highway is the natural beauty of Satluj River, its valley and towering hills. The narrow stream of Satluj is a constant companion along the road all the way uptoReckongPeo. The view is simply amazing. One side of the road is occupied with a deep gorge made by the river and another side is surrounded by the hilly slopes.Overnight at Kalpa.

Day4 : KALPA - CHITKUL

Today after breakfast we head to Chitkul from Kalpa via ReckongPeo&SanglaValley. We take a detour to ReckongPeo. It is about 60 kms away from ReckongPeo and considered as the last inhabited village at the Old Indian-Tibetan Trade Route. ReckongPeo is connected to the major cities of Himachal Pradesh. As we move towards road to Sangla Valley is also got popularly featured by the name Ledge in Discovery Channel as Deadliest Roads in the World .This adds just the right charm of adventure in the trip. We will also visit Sangla it’s a town in the Baspa Valley, also referred to as the Sangla valley. Finally we reach Chitkul, a spectacular sight of Chitkul village and its surrounding will leave everyone speechless. 270 degrees of snowy, jagged panorama and 90 degrees of the arid boulder panorama, the Himalayas cover this village from all the sides and that view is breathtaking. Glaciers seem so close that one could easily reach out and touch them. A Chitkul remains closed in winters and is extremely famous for its potatoes. Overnight at Chitkul.

Day5 : CHITKUL – TABOO

This morning post breakfast, we bear long journey ahead, but we were prepared mentally by our team captain who let us know that the roads are in a bad condition. But on the way we’ll see the mountains change from green to craggy brown it makes up for it all. On the way one, can also stop for the photography of the virtual world that can never replace the real one, for when we will be face-to-face with these rugged, dramatic mountains, it will leave all you guys speechless. At first they are rocky, but then later they become gentler. We also pass through Nako village. This sleepy place has a charming lake and a monastery as well. After this we head to Tabo. What strikes you about this town is how stark it is surrounded by rugged pinnacles. Tabo is a small town in the Lahaul and Spiti district on the banks of the Spiti River in Himachal Pradesh, India. The town lies on the road between ReckongPeo and Kaza, the sub-divisional headquarters of Spiti. Tabo is famous for its monastery, which is more than 1000 years old. It’s unlike any other monastery made of mud walls and has a beautiful temple inside. This World Heritage Site is regarded as one of the holiest by Dalai Lama. Overnight at Taboo.

Day6 : TABOO-KAZA

This morning we bid bye to this small but beautiful place and leave for Kaza. While proceeding for Kaza, we pass through Dhankar village on the bank of Spiti which take us to Attargo from where a 7 km detour to the village. Situated at an elevation of 3890 meters, Dhankar is some 30 km east of Kaza and capital of Spiti Kingdom .Dhankar is popularly known for an ancient monastery (1200 years old) which is built on high cliff overlooking the confluence of Spiti and Pin rivers. It is one of the most captivating and curious landmark of Spiti Valley. We even pass through the mud villages. This trek is a true test of fitness and stamina as both are needed to go from a height of 12, 000 feet to 13, 500 feet in a matter of hours. We move ahead for Kaza. Largest township in Lahaul&Spiti Valley, Kaza boasts of high mountains with snowy crowns, crystal clear river and streams and barren splendor interspersed with patches of green. Known for its scenic splendor, Lahaul&Spiti Valleys have earned the sobriquet of Barren Splendor of Himachal Pradesh, located 11,980 feet above sea level along the Spiti River.
